Learn Checkers

Review the goal through a picture story, then work through the chapters you need one at a time.

Checkers goal (What is Checkers?)

A game for two players where you move pieces diagonally, jump over the opponent's pieces to capture them, and win by taking all of the opponent's pieces or leaving them with no legal moves.

Scene 1 Move One Square Diagonally Forward The light squares are not used. In PDN, only the dark squares are numbered 1 through 32, and a move is recorded in a form such as 21-17.
Scene 2 Jump Over an Opposing Piece to Capture It The jumped piece is removed from the board. If another capture is possible after landing, continue with the same piece.
Scene 3 Capture Whenever Possible Even when you would prefer a quiet move, a capture takes priority whenever one is available. This mandatory-capture rule creates combinations and traps.
